Meet Sarah Wallace -
Your West Kootenay Doula

Full-spectrum Doula · Childbirth Educator · Loss Advocate

I’m Sarah. Trained as a teacher, and now a doula and mom of four.

My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage, and I felt completely alone. As my family grew, I learned how deeply parents need real support.

Raising kids without nearby family meant building support from scratch. I didn’t know how to ask for help, or how to let people support me. I stumbled through postpartum depression and anxiety more than once.

With each baby, the support around me faded. People assumed I had it together. I didn’t.

Now I know: no one has it all together, and no one should have to do this alone.

Bringing home a baby is hard, whether it’s your first or your fifth. You’re healing, feeding, juggling older kids, and trying to take care of yourself. It’s a lot.

And that’s where I come in.

Since 2018, I’ve supported families as a certified Full Spectrum Birthworker and Childbirth Educator. Through prenatal classes, postpartum doula care, and postpartum photography, I help you feel confident, supported, and steady during pregnancy and the fourth trimester.

You don’t have to just survive this season. With support, you can truly thrive.

Born and raised in BC, I moved to Alberta for university, ready to change the world. There, I met my partner, became a teacher, and eventually shifted my focus to starting a family.

My first pregnancy ended at 13 weeks in a devastating miscarriage that left me feeling completely alone. Over time, I went on to have 4 children within 6 years, and as my family grew, so did my understanding of what true support means.

In 2022, we traded big city life and relocated to Trail, BC in the West Kootenays, and it feels like coming home.

Living away from family, I had to build my own support network once I had children. What I didn’t realize was that I needed to teach them how to support me. Because I didn’t, I stumbled, facing postpartum depression and anxiety more than once. With my last baby, it became clear.  Parents need so much more support than society provides as they transition through the Fourth Trimester, no matter how many times they’ve done it before.

With each child, I noticed the support around me faded. People assumed I had it all together, but I didn’t. I felt like I was failing while everyone else seemed to be thriving. I wore a mask to hide my struggle, afraid others would see my cracks.

Now I know the truth: none of us have it all together.

Welcoming a new baby is HARD, even if it isn’t your first. You’re juggling recovery, feedings, older kids, your relationship, your home, and somehow, your own well-being (and don’t forget updating Great Aunt Margaret on social media!). It’s a lot.

That’s where I come in.

I’m a certified Full Spectrum Birthworker and Childbirth Educator, supporting families since 2018. No matter what your family looks like, I help you find your way through the confusing and emotional time that is birth and the early months postpartum. Through prenatal classes, postpartum doula support, or postpartum photography, I help you feel confident, capable, and cared for.

You don’t have to just survive this season, you can thrive! I’ll help you find your footing, your confidence, and your calm. Because I know that you can do this; you just need a little help.

The Mission

Creating stronger families through support and education.
I provide judgment-free, full-spectrum support so you never have to do it all alone. Whether it’s pregnancy, birth, or postpartum, I help you find calm in the chaos and confidence in your parenting journey.

A world where all parents feel supported, capable, and cared for, no matter what your family looks like or how many times you’ve done this before.

Postpartum support is essential, not a luxury. Parents need more than advice; they need someone who listens, guides, and meets them where they’re at.

My approach is flexible, compassionate, and grounded in real-life support so you can feel confident and cared for.

The Mission

Creating stronger families through support and education.
I provide compassionate, judgment-free, full-spectrum support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, helping parents feel confident, capable, and supported every step of the way.

Vision

A world where all parents feel supported, capable, and cared for, no matter what your family looks like or how many times you’ve done this before.

My Philosophy

I believe that postpartum support isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. Parents need more than checklists and advice; they need compassionate, judgment-free guidance that meets them where they are. Every family is unique, and every birth and postpartum journey is different. My approach is flexible, responsive, and rooted in listening, education, and hands-on support. I help parents navigate the emotional, physical, and practical challenges of the early months so they can feel capable, cared for, and confident in themselves and their growing family.
